I have always loved being outdoors and have spent a lot of time climbing the hills and mountains of the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Wales, and Scotland. I am very lucky to live close to the Yorkshire Coast, North Yorkshire Moors and Wolds, landscapes that inspire a lot of my photography. You’ll often find me walking with my dog on one of my favourite beaches.

If I could go back in time, I’d really like to visit the Neolithic age. This period of history fascinates me and I like visiting prehistoric sites, especially stone circles.

There’s more about me on my Facebook Page.

Travel

I love travelling, I’ve been very fortunate to have visited many parts of the Philippines. I have also travelled to the Middle East, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and The Maldives. In Europe, I have visited the Canary Islands, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, France, Greece, Norway and Italy. The places I’d most like to visit are Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, India, Japan and there’s still a lot of Italy I’d like to explore. I have had several holidays in Tenerife over the years and for a change I recently visited Lanzarote and discovered a whole new side to the Canary Islands that I’m keen to explore further.

Photography

Photography is my passion and I always carry a camera wherever I go. Nearly all the images that illustrate the articles on this blog are my own.

I am a contributor to the Adobe, Alamy and Shutterstock stock libraries.

Many of my photos and art are available as framed prints, artboard prints and posters. I have portfolios on Redbubble and Photo4me and a shop at Pixels.com.

I undertake commissions and also supply editorial & advertising imagery.

Music

Music fills much of my spare time. I don’t have any particular musical talent, although I can read music and play the odd tune on a piano. I used to have a large vinyl collection which was replaced by an even larger CD collection. My taste is very eclectic, spanning classical, folk, pop, electronica, prog rock and heavy metal. I have a particular love of Romantic piano concertos, Gustav Mahler symphonies, Celtic folk, Pink Floyd, U2, Enigma, Genesis, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Led Zeppelin, Runrig and Sandy Denny.

Education

I went to Poppleton Road Junior School and then Nunthorpe Grammar School in York. I decided to return to education later in life as a mature student to study Applied Environmental Science and Geography at St John’s College in York.
